Incorporating Crystal Chandeliers Into Your Home
Everyone loves the beauty of crystal chandeliers. A really ornate piece can bring awe to just about anyone who sets his or her eyes upon it. But some people feel that grand chandeliers are more fitting in a commercial setting, like the lobby of a hotel or a fancy restaurant. The truth is, crystal chandeliers can work in the home if you have the right ceilings, the right theme in your home and the right size chandelier.
Bigger is not always better in the case of chandeliers in the home, so keep that in mind. A large chandelier is very tempting, but you have to be sure it is going to work properly in the room you are installing it. It can look as though it was forced into the space and sometimes take over too much of the room, which aesthetically may be off-putting.
Chandeliers work best in certain rooms. It might be a little odd having one in the bathroom, but they work well in welcoming guests in the foyer or for lighting up the dining room table during the evening. When you choose your chandelier, make sure you measure your ceiling height and keep in mind how low the chandelier will hang after being installed. Some can be adjusted to be shorter if need be so people don't bump their heads.
You also want to think about placement in a room. In a dining room, having one right over the table, centered, looks best. In the foyer, maybe you'd prefer to get two smaller chandeliers than one large one and line them up, so not only do you have better lighting but placement becomes a bit easier, especially if its a more rectangular, long room.
You also want to take into account the rest of the theme of the room. You don't want a chandelier to look too brash against a modern styled home, especially if the style is a more Venetian design. You need to make sure your room matches that sort of vintage feel. Darker colors, matching accents to the type of material and luxurious fabrics, can really bring the whole room together.
So don't think that chandeliers in the home can't be done. They certainly can be, in the right rooms and in the right way. Stop dreaming about having one adorn your ceiling and start making it a reality. You'll love the way it changes your space.
