The two heavy wheels are the main mechanism of the bowling machine, which are between 30 and 50 cm in diameter, shod with solid rubber tires and each is driven by an electric motor. They are mounted in a frame so that the wheels are in the same plane, which are 7 cm apart. A ball joint allows the machine to a full range of motion. It is framed in such a way so that the plane of the wheels is approximately at the height that a usual bowler would release the ball.
The motors are generally powered by a car battery and turned in opposite directions. Controller allows you to change the speed of each wheel when machine is used by less experienced batsmen, or if the engines do not appear at the same pace, swing and spin bowling can be simulated.
These machines work with different size and weight balls, such as normal ball, cricket ball or tennis. But they are most effective with their own balls, which are hard plastic and covered with dimples. These are to help with the swinging characteristics when this type of delivery is desired.
