A sizable update for PopCap's team-based shooter Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare launches on September 30 across all available platforms, publisher Electronic Arts announced today.
The new "Legends of the Lawn" update introduces over 200 new customization items and seven character variants, including Golf Star, Centurion, Paleontologist, Chomp Thing, Alien Flower, Jade Cactus or Sanitation Expert. Also featured is the new "Taco Bandits" gameplay mode, a Capture the Flag variant that challenges the Zombies team to steal away delicious tacos from the defending Plants. Mmm, tacos.
Legends of the Lawn will be available as a free download starting tomorrow for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PS3, and PC platforms.

POPCAP GAMES TAKES THE MOWER TO PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES GARDEN WARFARE WITH LEGENDS OF THE LAWN UPDATE
September 29, 2014 - Players grow their legend in the outlandish new Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare update, Legends of the Lawn. Complete with a slew of new Character Variants, the tasty new Taco Bandits game mode, and a bountiful offering of more than 200 customization items and five new spawnable characters, the Legends of the Lawn update will be available free for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC on Origin, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 starting September 30.
Players can choose from one of the seven new Character Variants - Golf Star, Centurion, Paleontologist, Chomp Thing, Alien Flower, Jade Cactus or Sanitation Expert - to take into the Legends of the Lawn battle grounds. In addition, the new Taco Bandits game mode recruits the Plants to defend Crazy Dave's deliciously grilled tacos from the Zombies. Capture all three tacos and return them to the UFO as the Zombies, or protect all three tacos as the Plants to win.
PlayStation players will also get all of the content from Suburbination - the update released in August before the game was available on PlayStation - including the Crash Course map, Suburbination game mode, and Plasma Pea character variant.

In Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, players choose a side and square off in riotous combat against their Plant or Zombie opponents, utilizing an arsenal of outrageous weaponry. Beloved character favorites from the franchise, including the Sunflower and Peashooter, reprise their roles, and join the cast of zany characters.
Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare now features seven distinct gameplay modes, including competitive multiplayer "Gardens & Graveyards", "Team Vanquish", "Gnome Bomb", "Vanquish Confirmed", "Suburbination", and Taco Bandits, as well as cooperative "Garden Ops".
