Sports supports are a very important part of any sports first aid kit. However, whilst they may well reside in the sports first aid kit you think about as being for emergencies, the right sports strapping is also great for simply avoiding injuries.
For players who are getting over injuries or who have muscles or joints not quite feeling up to scratch, the right elastic bandage or strapping can ensure that they can not only play in important games but can do so with relative safety knowing that the area at risk is as protected as it can be.
Whether players suffer from recurring injuries or simply want avoid hurting something that may feel less that 100%, wearing the right support through the whole of the game will help to ensure that they don't have to be brought off due to injury and end up wearing a support for a whole other reason.
Sports supports shouldn't just be thought of as a cure, but also very much as a prevention. Letting players know that such resources are available should they even be only slightly worried about a muscle or joint will mean that they feel much more comfortable about asking for such a precaution up front. Having your first aid kit well stocked with such items will therefore mean that the right players can play the games you need them to, and play the whole game without worrying that they will be unnecessarily injured.
There is a whole range of situations in which supports and bandages can be utilised and in many ways they one of the most versatile parts of any first aid kit. So make sure your players have access to them any time they need them and they don't simply put them on whilst they are sat on the bench in pain, wishing they had been wearing one from the start.
