Air Fryer can resolve both problems. You can cook delicious food and can troubleshoot it. Easy to cook and easy to fix. With very little effort you can diagnose and fix the problems in Air Fryer be it sluggish food, not working, or smoke issues. In this article, I take you to a very common problem and further on how to diagnose and fix it.
Thick White smoke comes out of Air Fryer while cooking
While cooking in relatively older machines, it is commonly observed that some white fumes come out from the vents of the Air Fryer. Sometimes it is accompanied by the burnt smell.
Cause:
If the food that is cooked has a large concentration of fats like fish and likewise, if the oil sprinkled or coated over the food is more than what actually is required by that particular item, it so happens that oil spills down in the pan and as a result, during the course of cooking due to excessive heat, the fat produces a lot of white smoke.
Solution:
1. The white smoke does not affect the air fryer or cooking, however, it is desirable to pause the cooking and pour out the excessive oil from the pan. It may also happen that the pan may contain residue from the earlier cooking, this may also be the reason for the smoke during the next course operation.
2. It may happen that the white flour or bread coating is not properly fixed with food as a result these cook separately from the main food and may produce some smoke due to different temperatures of heating. Please check that all the coatings properly adhere to the food. Moreover, ensure that there should not be an over-dripping of these coatings.
3. If you are cooking food items that are feather light like frying fox nuts, the possibility is that these fragments can fly due to heavy air circulation pressure within the chamber and be stuck to the element above, which burns them and produces a burning smell or fumes. Additionally, If you are using parchment paper and is not secured properly by the weight of food, it can cause the same scenario as above. Therefore, it is advisable to check for loose or light things in the pan, and in the case of light food articles, use the wired container that comes as an accessory for these air fryers.
In case of smoke, I advise you to check if it is black or white. Black fumes are a result of some electric or mechanical failure and the unit should be isolated immediately in this case. It is a more dangerous event. Black fumes are the result of many probabilities like a short fuse, defective thermostat, fan motor burning, etc. In this case, it is advisable not to run the machine before getting it tested by the authorized repairer.
On the other hand, white smoke does not create a havoc kind of situation. But it needs to be dealt with properly. This is not dangerous. As is evident above, it is always advisable to clean the air fryer well before and after use. Also, the extra oil and its quantity should be used as per the requirement of food.
