There are different types of fireplaces available in the market which is designed for different purposes. The most important purpose of any fireplace, but it is not the only purpose. Keeping the home warm during the winter season is yet another important function of a fireplace. This usage is especially important in countries which are there in colder regions of the earth. For the people who live in countries near the equatorial region will not face such problems, because the winter will not be severe in such countries, but for the people who are living in countries near polar region, winter is indeed a nightmare. Hence, they need fireplaces for keeping their homes warm.
Since time immemorial, man has been using the fireplaces for various purposes. The most important use is, as it has already been stated, cooking the food. Man discovered the fire accidentally and somehow came to know that the process of burning the food in fire or cooking it increases its taste. Hence he began to invent new methods to cook food. It was then that he invented fireplaces.
Early fireplaces were crude structures built by stones and small boulders in which dried leaves of trees and wood were burnt to produce heat and light. They were highly inefficient as they produced lot of smoke and ash which were very harmful to both environment and the health of the person who was sitting in front of it. Hence they are discouraged these days, but they are still used in many countries, including India for their low cost and ease of availability. Wood burning fireplaces can be constructed at home but other fireplaces like gas burning fireplaces etc, even though highly efficient they may be, can't be constructed at home and need to be purchased in shops.
LPG and CNG (Liquefied Petroleum gas and Compressed Natural Gas) are the cleanest type of energy sources available for man these days. Even though it is so, most of the people don't like to have such a fireplace in their home, because they are not ready to invest a relatively large amount of money on it. Hence they prefer the wood burning or even more inefficient kerosene burning fireplaces. They produce lot of smoke and endanger the atmosphere and the health of the family members. Wood and kerosene are relatively cheaper compared to the CNG or LPG. Hence most of the people prefer them over gaseous fuels.
Even though the fireplaces are mainly designed for cooking food and keeping the home warm, their appearance also plays a very important role in their sale. Hence the companies design fireplaces in attractive designs. Their external appearance is very important to catch the attention of the customers. They are made with expensive shining materials which give them a lustrous appearance.
Purchasing the fireplace is not as easy as purchasing any other material, because it needs to be installed carefully in the right place. The experts of the fireplace installing companies are well trained and experienced in the art of installing fireplaces and they will take care of every aspect of the installation and testing etc.
