What Type of TV Series Will Suit You?
With the advance developments of technology, camera and CG effects, now we are having great TV shows which are no less than an expanded movies. The budget is high, the actors are good. So we are having some great productions. There are lots of differences among these series. But at the bottom line, there are three types of shows depending on their themes and stories. Lets check them out.
The first type about which I will discuss is the one with a continuous story. That means, the whole show is actually one single story which is divided in to many episodes. Of course their might be more than one side plots to support and enhance the main plot. But the main plot keeps moving constantly on its way. In these types of series you can not really afford to miss one single episode. Because the main plot is a single one and it gets development with every single episode. If you miss one episode, it will be hard for you to connect with the next. World famous series like Game Of Thorns, House Of Cards, Fargo, 11.22.63, Mr. Robot etc belongs to this genre. In these types of shows there is less alteration of characters. Almost the same number of characters keeps dominating the shows. Most of these genres are adopted from a story or a novel of some kind.
The next type is based on episodes. There is a line up for the characters and they usually remain the same through out all the episodes. Each episode will bring you new stories confronted by those same characters in more or less the same way. So in most cases, one episode has no relation with the next. Or may be a very minor connection will exist but not too many. In this case if you miss even a couple of episodes, it doesn't matter that much. As long as you know the characters' role, you will under stand what is happening. As for an example a detective of some kind will keep doing his police work in every episodes. His action may differ but the main goal will be the same (catching the criminals). In this sort of shows, there is no single story. Instead, new stories are presented with new characters coming and going with each episode. TV shows like Grimm, The X Files, MacGyver, Sherlock, Supernatural etc belongs to this category.
Finally comes the third type. This type will have new stories in new episodes. But along with it, there will be another plot developing gradually with each episode. This is the main plot which is accompanied by different plots in different series. But the development of the main plot keeps going. Shows like Fringe and The Walking Dead belongs to this category. This type of shows is for all. If you are a busy person to catch all the episodes, still you will be able to connect with the story. But it is more likely that you might miss the little developments of the main plot. But you will surely be able to enjoy the episodic incidences very much.
These are the three types of TV shows according to me depending on their thematic analysis. Now you know what suits you the best. Happy watching!
