I've always relied on Porter Cable products as they have a reputation for putting forward the goods that are beneficial to the craftsmen, amateur or professional. These products come with a lasting build quality, reliable performance and superb ergonomics. Also, if you somehow manage to damage your product, there are Porter Cable replacement parts available on the market including Porter Cable router parts, which is one of the reasons why I went with the 7518 Fixed Base 5 Speed Router.
I purchased this router to make raised board doors for my whole house with the 7815 mounted in a Kreg switch table. It genuinely is a powerhouse and I don't feel it is pointless excess, subsequent to attempting effectively yet scarily to run the huge bits with my comparatively smaller Bosch switch. It worked, however I question it would survive the experience. This one, having the same force or amperage as my Bosch table saw, skims directly through maple.
Somebody said the poor research and development reaction by Porter Cable to cause a few issues with this switch. I have not had an issue with the method of alteration, without a switch lift, and with a mirror it is exceptionally precise and simple. Be that as it may, I do have an issue with the pace control slider switch. This is not a decent course of action as continually I am ending up knocking it when killing the switch on and it effortlessly will unexpectedly change to an alternate rate when touched while modifying tallness. It essentially is a second rate plan for a switch table set-up.
The on and off switch likewise is not perfect for a switch table set-up as you wind up grabbing around, under the table, to discover the switch. An assistant oar security switch is a smart thought which will deal with both these issues, until you again need to alter the tallness by grabbing around under the table. Changing bits is not that troublesome: one wrench under, the other wrench over the table. That's quite easy to accomplish.
With respect to remarks about it being hard to discharge bits from the collet, I took in a trap that may help and has completely eased any issues for me. Release the collet to where you can turn it with your fingers. At that point when you meet resistance releasing it with your fingers, utilize the wrenches again to back off somewhat more while extricating the collet further. Once you do that, the bit slides right out. This is an incredible tip that might come in handy. I'll give this router 9 out of 10 points. 7518 loses 1 point for the poor slider switch and not as much as perfect on/off switch area.
By the way, I think a switch lift is close to a great degree costly and superfluous unless you are a creation shop thing. $299 for a small piece of comfort doesn't cut it for me unless I locate a smoking arrangement on one. Furthermore, the bowing over or hunching down to change settings or bits is quite required activity. 1/64th inch incremental changes in bit tallness are easy with this switch, without a switch lift. Apart from that I totally recommend this router as it gets the job done.
