You would be surprised if I tell you that creating and using space is one of the most essential free soccer training drills sessions you may have with your players. Your team will be highly admired by the other coaches if it manages to score goals while defending.
We shall be discussing two football drills in this article that players must learn to make space in the mid-field.When you want your players to make use of space in midfield, what works best is to play the ball out from the back, rather than depending on your goalkeeper kicking it into midfield packed with players.If you play from the back, you get a chance to move the opposition attacker out of their position. In order to perform this drill, your players should be organized in a typical 7-a-side set up for teams in Under-7 to Under-10 teams. Tell your all of the three defenders to touch the ball before it goes to the attackers. The goal keeper moves the ball to the first defender who gives it to player number 2 and finally to the third player.
The 4th player takes the ball passed, delivers it back and makes the ball go in the penalty area. He has a choice to play with player 6 to make a goal. A number of options are available for the player having the ball which is to pass, to play a through ball, or take the opportunity of joining with the attacker to create a goal.
A lot of confidence is required to pass through the defense. So tell your players it okay if they make mistakes while performing these soccer drills.

In this drill the players practice moving away at a point and making the defender follow. The space freed should quickly be covered by them again, and leaving the defenders to follow. Speaking to each other, making eye contact and moving along the field are the most important factors during free soccer training drills.
An area of 20 yards by 20 yards should be set up. The team should be divided in to groups of 3 assigning responsibility as a server, an attacker and a defender.The forward takes up his position facing the server on the boundary of the area. The forward then creates space before receiving a pass from the server.
At the end of the drill the attacker has the ball. The role of a striker can be practiced by everyone in the soccer drills, by rotating the players. These coaching drills guide players to manage pressure, giving them time to take best decisions with the ball, and an opportunity to implement them.The soccer drill practices include the attacker touching the ball a couple of times before letting it go back, and also to a different server. In this drill you should rotate the players on a regular basis.
