Grand Theft Auto: Vice City had a favorable review from critics and fans upon its release. IGN awarded 9.7/10 points, GameSpot, 9.6/10, GamePro, 5/5 and Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine awarded 10/10 points to Vice City. Metacritic awarded 95/100 score making Vice City the sixth-highest-rated PlayStation 2 game on the site. Of the iOS port, Mark Brown wrote that Rockstar did "a commendable job of bringing a stone-cold classic to mobile" but that "controls let the package down". In Japanese magazine, it was included in 2006's most favorite games. It was the only Western game on the list.
As of 26 September 2007, according to Take-Two Interactive, Vice City sold 15 million copies, as of 26 March, 2008 it sold 17.5 million copies, and became the fourth-highest-selling video game for the PlayStation 2. As of 2011 it became the best-selling video game, as well over 20 million copies were sold setting a landmark in video games for its influence within the game industry. The game was also considered as the fourth greatest and successful Playstation game by the voting of the readers of UK Playstation Magazine. Also according to the Japanese magazine "Famitsu" this was the only favorite western video game in their list of top 100 games of 2006.
GTA Vice City is an open world action-adventure video game written by Dan Houser and James Worrall. Sixth title in the GTA series, and the first major entry since GTA III, it was developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Game. It was released on 27 October 2002 for the PS2 console, on 12 May 2003 for PC, and on 31 October 2003 for the Xbox console. In an open world environment, the game is played from a third-person perspective, pitting Tommy Vercetti to get engrossed in the game world at leisure. The game is set in 1986 within the fictional city like Miami. The single-player story follows Tommy Vercetti, who is a Mafia hitman released from prison. After he gets involved in a drug deal that fell through, Tommy seeks out those responsible while making a criminal empire and seizing power from other criminal organizations in Miami.
