When we started Proof-it-Online in 2000, getting assets approved was a burdensome and expensive process. Designers and content creators were printing pricey color copies and shipping them to reviewers, waiting days or even weeks for the asset and it's feedback to be returned. By creating a way for these folks to share, view, and markup assets online, we figured we'd just nailed a great way for printers to get brochures, forms, and business cards reviewed and approved.
Wow, we had no idea how quickly the industry and our product would evolve!
Our customers were quick to appreciate the value of online proofing and to see ways that the solution could do even more, and for other people in their organization from sales and product teams to legal and compliance departments. They asked, and we listened - refining our mark-up tools, simplifying the review environment, improving the way content was displayed, and supporting an increasing amount of file types.
As the application developed, shaped by our users unique review and approval needs, we began to see the need for a leap into approval workflow management. Enterprise businesses had complex workflows, they needed greater control over the routing of their assets across departments and up the chain of command. Interactive content was becoming increasingly important as well, with companies devoting more and more resources to creating web pages, interactive content, and animations. The need to review video was exploding. All of this new media content was especially challenging to share and review.
And as our customer's needs evolved, so did we.
In 2009, inMotion was born. Leveraging our 10 years of experience in delivering a solution in the cloud (that's right, we've been a hosted solution since inception!) inMotion is a new product that reflects the vastly different landscape of approval management from where we started. Our users have expanded. Not only do we have printers looking for final signoff on brochures, direct mail, print ads, packaging and traditional business documents, we have the world's largest entertainment company using inMotion in building branded online communities, national retailers using inMotion to route advertisements to thousands of store managers, television networks routing video promos, and a global hotel chain using inMotion to keep track of the status of promotional pieces that represent their 11 different brands.
Today, our clients even tell us that they use inMotion for managing the approval of social media content, project planning documents, budget reviews, and press releases. As we continue to expand inMotion's capabilities, we're excited about coming enhancements in 2012 - including more advanced Project Organizer capabilities, improved job and task tracking, and the addition of content submission forms and creative briefs. Expect enhancements to our iPhone app and a new sibling for the iPad, and of course Android has our attention too.
Thanks for being creative with inMotion. Let's keep the content moving.
