Books is My Best Friend
Unlike other children I was not a very outgoing child and was not into sports either. The reason was my love for books. I used to spend all my leisure hours sitting alone and reading books. It used to give me eternal pleasure. But I made it a point not to get stuck with only my textbooks. I studied a different genre of books. I still believe nothing can be better than books to gather knowledge. The information we gather from the Internet these days can be questioned but what is written in books cannot be questioned. It is believed that the information that have gone into making a books is either fictional or factual. But the craze for books seems to be missing in today's children. They are neither into sports nor in books. Now their zones of interest have shifted to gadgets and the Internet.
Bringing up a child has become a difficult job for the parents because now it has also become tough to figure out what the children are really interested in and what they want to gather information about. The gap between the present two generations is wide unlike any other generations. Earlier, children used to be glad if they were gifted a book by somebody. But now the scenario is completely different. Books seem to make an extremely boring gift. And, they make fun of those people who love to read books. It has become almost a shame to be called a geek. The children of these days interpret the term negatively.
The time has changed and so has the nature of the people. Most of the people try to make their own theories. They challenge the theorists of earlier times and many of the present day's people try to prove the former theorists wrong. Children now find fun to be more precious than their studies. They hardly consult their textbooks and take out the facts from the web. The web gives its search results faster and easily and its takes a lot of time to find out the facts from different books and then make a fresh copy of it. This reflects the impatient trait that has crept in the character of the children of this generation.
The children alone should not be blamed for everything because even the teachers prepare their materials with the help of the web. Even they don't waste much of their time in consulting books. These days' very few students know the names of the authors of the textbooks and the reason is that they are more dependent on the Internet than in going through their books.
The majority of the children are unaware of the fact that the more they involve themselves with books, the more that their knowledge will broaden up. Parents also should buy books to their children. Even if the children show an unwilling attitude to read the books, parents should make them read all the books meant for their age group. Reading a lot of books not only broadens up the knowledge in a person but also make many changes in the nature of a person. It makes people build up patience within them.
