A lump on my dogs paw
We noticed a small lump on the front foot of our dog a while ago. It was very small so we didn't take any notice of it and thought possibly she had been stung. After a few months it was apparent the lump had grown and so thought it best to visit the vet. The lump was on her front paw between the end toes and there isn't much skin there so the vet said it needed to be cut out immediately before it grew any bigger.
The next day we took our dog in having starved her since the night before. When our vet called later she said that the bump was quite large but she was able to remove it. Fortunately she had been able to remove the whole of the lump which was enclosed within a sac. The lump was sent away to a lab to be analyzed in case it was malignant.
Only a short while later the vet called again to say that our dog was awake but missing is and crying so could we come and get her. I could hear her in the background crying. We collected her and she was still really dopey from the aneasthetic but she wouldn't settle when we got her back until she had had something to eat - which wasn't allowed until the evening! Her eyes kept closing but she made herself wake up again still waiting for food!
Eventually the results came back saying that the lump was OK but was full of bacteria that could have caused a awful skin infection. I'm so glad that the sac hadn't burst. If our dog has a lump again we shall go to the vet immediately.
