Thompson not to mention one of its latest residents Lance Armstrong! These accommodations are strategically placed in order to offer a spectacular view of the mountains each time a guest looks outside.
Aspen Ski Resorts: The Ski Area
The Aspen Mountain is a ski area located outside and above the Town of Aspen, within the White River National Forest. The Town was founded in 1946 and today, this is one of the four adjacent ski areas which operate as a part of the Aspen/Snowmass complex. With 673 acres, it is small in comparison to the other ski areas, especially the much larger Snowmass ski area, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in challenges! The Aspen Mountain ski area retains its cultural flavor from the old days of recreational skiing, but has terrain that the expert skiers love.
The snowfall in this region measures to 300" annually. Top elevation is 11,212 feet, while the base elevation is 7,945 feet. The ski area has 76 trails in total no beginner slopes, 48% intermediate, 26% advanced and 26% expert slopes. The longest trail is 3 miles long. There are eight lift systems that service the slopes.
