Fun and Creative Babysitting Games
Most of us are acquainted with the usual babysitting activities--hide and go seek, I Spy, Simon Says, and so forth--and even though these activities are excellent things to do, they are not necessarily stimulative for the kid's mind. If the primary goal as a babysitter is to just pass the time until the kids' parents come home, this is fine. However, if you are also engaged in helping to make a real contribution to the children's minds, you might like to think about games which inspire their creativity while helping them to grow in beneficial ways. The following are just a handful of games that will help you to do that.
Scavenger hunt: Playing scavenger hunt is obviously one of those common babysitting activities that have been played for a long time, yet it is definitely among the more creative and challenging ones. Create the scavenger hunt in order that it requires creative thinking. For example, instead of including things like "white sock" or "brown leaf," come up with more demanding stuff like "a thing the dog likes" or "white thing that makes a sound."
Storytelling games: It does not matter exactly how you go about it, yet it's usually a good strategy to play babysitter games which motivate youngsters to work with their imaginations. One of the best options is to engage in an activity that has the kids create a story. Maybe you could put on a puppet tv show, or perhaps you could encourage them to write illustrated storybooks for their mom and dad. Any old notepad will suffice.
Artwork activities: Young children are accustomed to things such as painting and doodling pictures, yet they really like being taught new methods to create art. For example, you might use some scissors and out-of-date periodicals to construct collages, or you can teach them how to draw a comic strip. If you merely instruct them how to do things like this, youngsters often come up with some incredibly original artworks, and they will probably keep doing such activities even when you are gone.
Play rock band: As any great primary school music teacher will tell you, anything may used as a musical instrument. Instruct the children to find their musical instruments (of course, if they happen to own real instruments, that's terrific) and create a babysitting activity out of creating songs. Even if you're not a musician yourself, all children like to produce sound, and this is the ideal chance for them to begin learning about music. Of course, doesn't need to be Mozart, but who knows? Maybe they will have a talent at music.
