Patio Umbrellas are outside umbrellas or umbrellas used outside the house, which serves the same purpose as a normal umbrella, the difference being that this one is used when one wishes to relax beside the pool or beachside, under the sun on a warm summer morning. They are also known as backyard umbrellas or market umbrellas. Used mostly in motels, cafeterias, resorts, and sometimes even for home use as well. Such umbrellas are typically mounted on the ground or to a base and are normally more decorated and colorful than normal umbrellas that we use. They come in a lot of shapes, sizes and colors. The commonly seen shapes are rectangular, octagonal, spherical, and even square. The sizes vary from 5 feet to 13 feet. Some of them even provide tilting arrangements, the one that we normally see at beachside are the ones that have tilting arrangements incorporated with it. Depending upon the scale of these umbrellas, individuals are accommodated. Normally, a group of four individuals are accommodated inside such umbrellas. They are available in simple roof top designs or sophisticated designs like tent shape mainly meant for extra privacy. Those used in accommodations have a gap through which umbrella pole is crossed through. They are used for protecting the table. The operation might be primary push up system, pulley and twine system, electric auto lifting, or crank deal with kind arrangement.
The fabric used for making such umbrellas should be a bit stronger in nature. Normally fabrics used for making such umbrellas are poly canvas cover or polyester, synthetic thatch, acrylic, vinyl etc. Chemical coatings are supplied for stain resistance, UV (ultra violet) rays protection, rain, snow etc. Normally the color of the fabric is bit lighter in tone in order to replicate warmth. Vents or porous weaves are supplied to extend stability in windy places and improve air circulation.
Another important aspect of the Patio Umbrellas is its pole. Some would argue it is the most important. The taller the pole, the longer is the shadow cast by the umbrella but weaker is the strength and rigidity. To provide rigidity and strength the poles are made up of anodized aluminum. Wooden frames like ash, teak, mahogany, hardwood are also available these days. Lighting arrangements with low voltage adapters and lights are often professionally installed in such umbrellas to add extra charm and glam value. But these have no bearing to the strength of the umbrellas per se.
Prices of such umbrellas vary from a 100$ to 300$ with warranties between 1year to 5years. Other accessories or attachments that are provided with these umbrellas are matching carry bags, fabric cleaners, lights, torches, replaceable canvas etc. These are optional and it is entirely upto you whether to buy them or not. Often the bases are attached with wheels so as to make the umbrella more mobile.
Maintenance of Patio Umbrellas is quite easy. They should be kept close when it is not in use, cleaned at a scheduled basis and must be sprayed with UV protectant regularly. This not helps them be ready for the next use bit also increases the shelf life.
