The importance of chemical industry in any economy cannot be overstated. They provide hundreds of materials, chemicals and other compounds without which modern life as we know it is impossible to imagine. One of the hundreds of raw materials produced by the chemical sector is the PVC. This wonderful material, since its accidental discovery in the early part of the 19th Century, has spawned hundreds of new applications. Nowadays, there is hardly a sector of our economy where we do not find any use of this fantastic material in one way or the other.
The reason why PVC has so many applications in our modern life is due to its amazing versatility and high durability. Earlier, a large number of materials were made from iron or other metals like pipes, window frames etc. These were changed after every few years due to natural wear and tear. The industry is now using PVC materials to make them make them more durable. PVC materials are easy to mold which make them a material of choice for building hundreds of new things that are used in our daily lives.
Due to the immense demand of this material in our day to day lives, production of PVC materials is in full swing. Polyvinyl chloride or PVC as it is called is the third most produced synthetic material in the world. The process of developing PVC, in theory, is pretty straightforward. Just take monomers and string the molecules to form polymers. Although it looks simple in the paper, making it is a very complex process. The raw material like resin that is used to make PVC has to be heated at a particular temperature so that its pores open up. This allows the other ingredients to mix with it thoroughly to produce PVC.
This complex process of heating and mixing different ingredients to make PVC is very difficult to do manually. There are special machines called PVC high-speed mixers to do all these tasks automatically and efficiently on an industrial scale. These high-speed mixers have blades inside them that revolve at fantastic speeds to raise the temperature of the ingredient at a particular level and also mix them uniformly. PVC mixer manufacturers use cooling mixers and speed mixers in an integrated way. This allows the manufacturer of PVC materials to cool down the final product that comes out of the speed mixer for molding it into a specific shape and then coloring and polishing it to get the final product.
