In case where the helmet or visor decal is an easy to remove type of sticker, it should be peeled off easily. However, if it has the standard glue type, it can be tough to get it off.
If you find it hard to remove, you're going to need something like a hair dryer. Apply heat onto the decal just enough to get into a warm temperature yet not hot. After that, get your fingernail under one edge of the sticker and slowly peel it off. It would be great if there's no glue residue left behind.
But in case of a glue residue, you can buy the orange peel adhesive remover from hardware or DIY stores. Put some onto a soft cloth towel and then dab it onto the glue residue until it completely rubs off. You can further clean the area with the towel to ensure it's completely free from adhesive residue. The glue remover mentioned above is commonly used on plastic surfaces. It does not dull or cloud the surface of the plastic.
How to Make Car Window Decals Easy to Remove
I am not aware of any product you can use to make a decal easy to remove. In fact, it can protect the car's window pretty well. Also, if you have a good understanding of how the adhesive works, you don't really need to worry about taking the graphic out.
What I can tell you, though, is how you can easily peel the stickers off your car's windows. It's somewhat an easy thing to do.
The Vinyl Decal Material
Most decals placed on the outside of vehicle windows are made from vinyl or polyester materials. The adhesive that is usually used is the acrylic glue, which tends to get tougher and difficult to peel off over time. If you are looking into getting wholesale graphics that you want to market, consider those with removable glue used. These types have actually become popular because of the type that they are.
However, let's say you have already bought a large graphic and installed it onto your vehicle's rear window, and now you are concerned about damaging the window on either installation or removal of the item later. Whichever it is, you don't need to be overly concerned about it.
Applying Heat When Remove the Decal
In removing the graphic decal, use a hair dryer (as mentioned above) or a heat gun to warm the item. When making use of the heat gun, set it to the lowest setting, and for the heat gun, use the highest setting. If the sticker is large or has been there for quite some time, heat small areas at a time. Once you've covered an area, slowly pull the edge at a 45O angle. Notice that once you get to the end part of the heated small section, it tends to get tougher to remove. In this case, stop and heat another area, and repeat the process until you cover the entire graphic.
Removing the Left Over Adhesive Stain or Residue
Once removed, you might find some adhesive residue on the glass window. As discussed above, get yourself a glue remover like the orange peel available at hardware or DIY shops. You can apply with a spray bottle or a soft cloth. Let it sit on the residue for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive. You can put more of the remover if you feel like it, especially if the glue seems hard to remove.
When the residue is softened, soak a soft towel with the glue remover and gently clean the area. When you've rubbed the glue off, clean the area again with a dry towel this time. If you want to install another sticker right away, use an isopropyl alcohol to neutralize the remover. If you've placed the graphic on the painted area of your car, go for warm soapy water than alcohol as it can make the car paint look dull.
